Goals for Pronunciation Exercises, Cycle 2

After mulling over my mistakes from Cycle 1, I want to make sure that my goals for Cycle 2 are more attainable. I think that an important step toward this is to have goals that are concrete and short term - this will help to keep my activities from seeming overwhelming. I also want to select one or two specific parts of my prosody to especially focus on. Hopefully I can observe a more marked improvement this way.

Goals
  1. Improve the fluidity of my speech. I pause a lot when speaking, and it takes me a while to actually form my thoughts into spoken Japanese.
  2. Practice the intonation of か. It is a super-important particle that we use all of the time, but it still gives me trouble.
Activities
  1. Run through imaginary dialogues, drawing from the textbook dialogues for help. I have a feeling that I don't know enough yet to try interacting with a television show, but I may give it a shot anyway.
  2. Do shadowing of questions! Listen and pay attention to the different intonations of か and the circumstances behind those intonations.
As a final goal, I will again aim to do fifteen minutes of pronunciation exercises every day. However, I will change this from fifteen minutes of shadowing (my goal for Cycle 1) to fifteen minutes of any kind of practice. Included in this goal, I want to do one shadowing exercise every three days and submit it using Voice Board.
