Goals for Pronunciation Exercises, Cycle 3

My overarching goal for Cycle 3 is to practice consistently. This is the last cycle this semester! I want to get as much out of it as I can! Here are my goals and activities:

Goals

  1. Develop good pronunciation (pitch/intonation) of the て forms of adjectives and verbs. These forms are so useful, so I would like to be able to use them comfortably. This will also improve my familiarity with changing verbs to the て form, which can be confusing.
  2. Improve my pronunciation of the plain forms of verbs. I think it will be tough to get very good at this in only one cycle, but right now I have very little experience, so I know that I can improve my use of proper pitch with plain form verbs. This will also improve my familiarity with constructing/using the plain form, and speaking casually in general.
  3. As a kind of secondary goal, I want to improve my speaking fluidity. This has pretty much been a constant goal for me (and one that is tough to achieve), but that doesn't mean I should stop trying!

Activities

  1. To improve て form and plain form usage, I will do at least 15 minutes daily of PE practice (even if it is just listening). Going through the dialogues as practice in Cycle 2 was definitely helpful, so I will do so again this Cycle.
  2. I will submit an extra shadowing every three days (as planned last Cycle). It will require some discipline, but I know that I can do it.
  3. I want to go to office hours at least once a week (although there are only two weeks before break!). I would like to go over adjectives and plain form verbs. I hope I can also practice conversation with a native speaker (and a 先生), which should help me become more comfortable speaking.
